Personal Social Health and Relationships Education

Our Intent

At East Herrington Primary Academy, P.H.S.R.E enables pupils to become healthy, safe, respectful, resilient and responsible members of society. Through a sequenced spiral curriculum, pupils build knowledge about relationships, health, safety, law, equality, wellbeing, consent, rights, responsibilities and future readiness. Pupils learn protective behaviours, how to seek help, how to manage emotions and how to recognise safe, respectful and unsafe situations online and offline. PHSRE actively promotes SMSC, British Values, protected characteristics, inclusion, democracy and respect for the diverse society in which pupils live. Our curriculum combines a strong universal entitlement with responsive teaching that reflects safeguarding information, pupil voice, cohort need and emerging local or national risks.
