Car Parking

As is the case at many schools across the country, here at East Herrington Primary we have seen a large increase in vehicle traffic at peak times over the past few years and the area surrounding the school is extremely busy when parents are dropping off and collecting children.  Following concerns raised by both parents and local residents about growing parking issues we would like to remind you that we need to maintain a safe journey to school for all.

Please be considerate towards pupils and local residents when parking close to the school.  Be aware of road markings, avoid blocking access to residents’ driveways and do not park on the yellow zig-zag lines at the entrances on both Balmoral Terrace and Charter Drive.  These areas should remain clear to allow safe access and if possible it is recommended that parents walk their children to school if they live locally.

Keeping the immediate vicinity outside of school free from parked cars will allow children and adults walking in and out of school to travel safely, where they can see and be seen by approaching traffic.  The safety of our pupils must be a priority in everything that we do so please consider this when you  bring your car close to school; a 5 minute walk could make all the difference to the safety of the children.

Due to the concerns raised by all affected, local traffic patrols and community police will be monitoring the problem.

The car park on site is for staff parking only.  The car park gates will be closed 8:40am – 9:00am and 3:00pm – 3:30pm due to the number of pedestrians on site during drop off and collection times.
