End of Term and Farewell to Year 6 (posted on 20.07.2016)

The end of the school year has arrived and the time has come to say ‘goodbye’ to our wonderful Year 6 children.  Although it is a sad day in some respects, it is also a very happy one where they have been able to share their memories and achievements with all of their friends in school.  The Year 6 children have grown so much over the last year and ready to tackle their secondary school journey.  As a staff we are tremendously proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck for the future!

To celebrate the end of term, this morning we all joined together in a whole-school assembly to sing our favourite songs and remember the fantastic things that our pupils have taken part in throughout the year.  During the assembly a number of children were given awards including the Jack Partington Music Award, The Charles and John Pullen Award, The Bull Trophy, Special Recognition awards and sporting awards.  These trophies are awarded to Year 6 children every year in recognition of their achievements. Children with 100% attendance since September 2015 were given a certificate and voucher, and our Accelerated Reader award winners received book tokens to continue their fantastic reading.  All Nursery, KS1 yard and assembly helpers also received a gift in recognition of their help and hard work throughout the year.

Following the assembly, the whole school gathered on the KS2 field to take part in a balloon release arranged by Friends of the School.  We all really enjoyed the balloon release and we said goodbye to this school year with an extremely loud cheer.

East Herrington Race For Life! (posted on 05.07.2016)

On Thursday 23rd June during Sports Week, the whole school joined together to ‘Race For Life’ in support of Cancer Research UK.  To celebrate this special event, children and staff (including Mrs Hodgson!) dressed in pink and completed a race around the outdoor field.

Each child received a special medal and refreshments. The weather was very kind to us and the children all had a great time supporting a very worthwhile cause.

Together we raised £350.00 and all monies will be forwarded onto Cancer Research UK.

We thank you for your support.
