Swimming Gala Champions! (posted on 24.06.2016)

Congratulations to the EHPA swimming team on becoming swimming gala champions for the 14th year in a row!

On Wednesday 22nd June 2016 our swimming team competed in the local swimming gala against Farringdon Primary Academy, Mill Hill Primary School, Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy and New Silksworth Junior School.  Each team had strong swimmers and the competition between the schools was fierce.  The children battled it out individually and in relay teams swimming front crawl, breast stroke and backstroke to see who could swim the fastest times.

After a fantastic team effort, EHPA were awarded 1st place and crowned champions.  A special mention goes to Victoria in Year 6 for her outstanding swim where she not only won the race, but broke the front crawl record which has stood since 2010!  Well done everyone!

William's World War One Model (posted on 21.06.2016)

Inspired by our topic on Word War One, William has created this awesome model of the Battle of the Somme.

He worked at home with his Grandad Ernie for three months – yes three months – until they had completed this to-scale model!

William said the hardest part was individually crafting all of the hundreds of tiny sandbags used to make the trench.

All of his class (and all of the staff) were massively impressed by his effort!

Send My Friend to School Campaign (posted on 15.06.2016)

Years 3, 4 and 5 are taking part in the Send My Friend to School Campaign! This campaign aims to persuade world leaders to ensure all children get an education.

Year 5 children have written persuasive letters to our Member of Parliament Bridget Phillipson, asking her to put pressure on David Cameron to act.

On top of that, Years 3, 4 and 5 have created colourful mini rucksacks to carry their campaigning messages to David Cameron.

We want him to help the help the 37 million children who currently don’t go to school because of conflict or natural disasters. We want world leaders to commit another £3billion to ensure no child misses out.

Pictured are Harry, Evie, Jazmine and Faye holding our letters and rucksacks.

Football Team Triumph (posted on 06.06.2016)

Congratulations to the boys’ football team and Mr Cawley for winning the Morton Cup competition and bringing home the trophy!  The boys really enjoy playing for the school team and train hard as a squad to make sure that the team performance is second to none.  The competition the team faced during the cup finals was fierce, but East Herrington Primary Academy put in a strong performance to win the game 2-0 – well done everyone!
